Philippe Starck book By Taschen

Whether you like it or not, Philippe Starck has become a household name and his designs are becoming increasingly unavoidable wherever you go. After designing our lamps, toothbrushes, lemon squeezers, luggage, beds, taps, houses and toilets Starck moved one step closer to taking over our entire lives and now designs our shoes, underwear, glasses, toiletries and food. This isn't necessarily such a bad thing? In order for Starck to become such an international success and cult-star in the first place, people the world over must have been responsive to his New Design aesthetic sensibilities.

Since founding his first design company in 1968, and becoming its art director alongside Pierre Cardin in 1969, Starck has moved up in the design world with surprising speed ?something which was no doubt helped by designing a private apartment for the French President in 1982.

This new, special edition 25th Anniversary, 352-page release from TASCHEN (who Starck has designed bookshops for in LA and Paris) charts Starck's entire career and highlights some of his more notable designs in a beautifully anti-catalogue way. Although any half-keen creative will have seen most of his work before, for just ? this book is well worth adding to your collection.
